Congratulations Eden Tadesse!
AWiB is delighted to extend its congratulations to Eden Tadesse for receiving the Goalkeepers 2023 Progress Award. This prestigious award, presented annually by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, recognizes leaders driving global progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Eden is among six outstanding leaders acknowledged for their contributions to advancing these goals in their communities and worldwide.
Eden Tadesse, a social entrepreneur, digital innovator, and human rights activist from Ethiopia, has been honored for her groundbreaking work addressing the challenges faced by refugees, particularly in finding employment and integrating into their new communities. In 2019, she founded Invicta, a global impact platform promoting digital financial inclusion for urban refugees. Invicta offers online courses in design, marketing, and other fields to equip young refugees with remote working skills, connect them with international job opportunities, and provide essential support to female entrepreneurs in business development and banking.
This recognition is a testament to Eden’s unwavering commitment to refugee rights and her vision for a world where refugees have equal access to fair wages and quality employment. Since its inception in 2019, Invicta has become a digital hub empowering refugees to learn new skills, secure employment, integrate into their new homes, and connect with international companies. Over 35,000 people from 90 countries have registered on the platform, with 7,000 completing online courses, and more than 2,200 finding meaningful employment opportunities. Eden Tadesse’s impact on the lives of refugees is truly remarkable, and her 2023 Gates Foundation Goalkeepers Progress Award is well-deserved.
