We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dibabe Bacha for her outstanding achievement as the US Embassy, Addis Ababa nominee for the ‘International Women of Courage 2024’. Dibabe Bacha serves as the Executive Director of the Ethiopian Women with Disabilities National Association (EWDNA), demonstrating remarkable leadership and dedication in her advocacy efforts.

Dibabe’s nomination is a testament to her relentless commitment to empowering disabled women in Ethiopia. Despite facing personal challenges as a blind woman, she has spearheaded initiatives that have reached marginalized communities in both rural villages and impoverished urban areas, positively impacting over 3500 disabled women.

Dibabe’s advocacy extends beyond the grassroots level; she has successfully advocated for the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of Peoples with Disabilities (CRPD) into Ethiopian law.
