Blen A. Sahilu

 

Blen is a lawyer by training and an activist for women and children\’s rights.

She loves teaching and has worked as a full time lecturer at Addis Ababa University College of law, teaching Criminal Law and Gender and the Law, for the past 5 years. She received her LL.B degree from Addis Ababa University and her LL.M degree from the University of Michigan.

She is a co-founder of the Yellow Movement, a vibrant university initiative to speak up for women and girls rights. At the Yellow Movement she has mentored the leaders, campaigned with them for more than two years and watched them grow into fantastic leaders and dedicated activists. She is now working as an Independent researcher collaborating with organizations such as  African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) and the World Bank. Her goal is to always be growing as a person and contribute to the empowerment of women through her work.

She believes in the power of storytelling (in all its forms) and small group mentor-ship to bring about social change.
