Mery serves as GBV Projects and Humanitarian Response Department Lead at Empathy for Life Integrated Development Association (ELiDA), she oversees GBV prevention and response programming, policy advocacy, and multi-stakeholder coordination in humanitarian settings.
She is a seasoned gender and legal professional with over six years of experience spanning program management, legal practice, judicial service, and humanitarian coordination. She has demonstrated expertise in strategic advocacy, legal reform, and capacity building, while fostering partnerships with government, civil society, and international actors.
Mery is recognized for her leadership, problem-solving, and ability to manage complex, multi-country programs. Her commitment to advancing women’s rights, strengthening feminist legal frameworks, and promoting inclusive development outcomes underscores her role as a dynamic advocate and coordinator driving meaningful change across Ethiopia and the wider Horn of Africa initiatives.
Mery holds an LLB in Law and an LLM in International Law.
