Weekend Recap

On April 15th, AWiB members had a half-day seminar on Growth Mindset, facilitated by Omnia Elias, HR Lead and Operations Deputy Director. The session began with an icebreaking self-introduction where participants shared their experiences, professional backgrounds, and fun facts about themselves to foster networking.

The session, Giving & Receiving Constructive Feedback facilitated by Nahu S. Girma, Founder & Director at AWiB began with a critical view of the word “Constructive” and the idea that the feedback that we label as negative is crucial for our improvement and growth. Diving straight into the topic’s practical lessons, the next concept raised was how asking questions and being honest with oneself play important roles in giving and receiving feedback intentionally with the objective of improvement. 

On April 5, a new session on Life Balance was facilitated by Aster Asfaw. The session reminded us that work or career is just one part of life. Life balance doesn’t mean every area gets equal attention—it’s about creating harmony among the different parts of life. The key is to find the balance that works best for you.

On the morning of April 5, 2025, AWiBers gathered for the round table discussion (RTD) on Detachment facilitated by Nahu S. Girma, Founder & Director with Ephrathah Wodajo, Digital Marketer of AWiB.

The session Making the Right Choice facilitated by Adanech Kebede, Owner and GM of Vital Care Pharmaceutical, began with an insightful discussion on the importance of being intentional when introducing ourselves. Adanch emphasized that self-introductions and networking should go beyond mere formality, encouraging participants to approach them with authenticity and a clear sense of purpose.

The full day workshop on Negotiation Skills by Menna Selamu, Co-Founder & CEO of Prime Integrated Services, started off with introductions of AWiB members and guests. The attendees then had a quick practical exercise were they took on the role of seller and buyer in groups of two and negotiated the price.

On Saturday afternoon, March 15, AWiBers had a roundtable discussion on the topic “Women Supporting Each Other’s Vision,” facilitated by Milky Mamo, founder and CEO of Efoy Nanny Training Center and AWiB 2025 Board Member.

All Things Woman was a full day three part session touching on three topics: Understanding Culturally Defined Boundaries, Women, Power and Peace and the Concept of Feminism.

On Saturday, January 18th, AWiBers had a roundtable discussion on Responsible Leadership led by Siham Ayele, Country Manager of Africa Jobs Network. The session began with self-introductions, and a reflective question that encouraged participants to share their aspirations.
