Weekend Recap

AWiBers attended the session Parenting with Purpose facilitated by Helina Girma, Leadership Trainer & Life Coach on July 5, 2025. The participants were made up of women who are planning to become parents in the future, parents of toddlers, teens and adults as well as expecting moms.

Understanding Honesty was a roundtable discussion facilitated by Maskerem Haile. The session began with a powerful question: “Honesty begins with oneself—but ask yourself, why do I want to be a better human being?”

On Saturday, June 21, AWiBers joined the Round Table Discussion (RTD) on the topic ‘What would you do if you were not afraid?’ facilitated by Nahu S. Girma, Founder & Director of AWiB. The session began with introductions and participants shared their expectations.

Understanding the Capital Market was held on June 21, 2025. It is a first of its kind lighthouse seminar facilitated by Tewedaj Gezahegn, CEO of HST Investment Advisory Service. The capital market is a long-term investment platform where shares, bonds, and various securities are exchanged. In the 16th century, the Dutch East India Company—now recognized as the world’s first stock-issuing company—developed an ambitious plan to expand its fleet and began selling “shares” to raise funds.

On Saturday, June 21, AWiBers gathered for two powerful roundtable discussions on Responsible Leadership, led by Siham Ayele, Country Manager of Africa Jobs Network. The sessions opened with warm self-introductions and a reflective question that prompted participants to share their aspirations. Before delving into the core content, Siham beautifully outlined the journey she would take the group on, clearly mapping out the themes she would explore throughout the session.

What It Takes to be an Entrepreneur was held on June 14, 2025, facilitated by Bilen Aynu, owner of Savor Addis Restaurant. The session explored the personal, practical, and philosophical aspects of entrepreneurship, especially from the lens of a woman in Ethiopia.

On the 14th of June AWiBers joined for a round table discussion on Self Doubt led by Helina Abye, Communication Lead at AWiB. It started with an interactive self introduction where participants shared their background and their expectations from the session.

The Art of Networking was facilitated on June 14, 2025 by Bethlehem Hailu, AWiB’s Membership Relations Manager. The session was truly engaging and included activities like icebreakers and speed dating.

On May 10, AWiBers attended a dynamic seminar on self-branding, led by Selam Minaye, Managing Director at Orangeswitch. The session opened with a reflective exercise where participants shared their “superpowers,” setting the tone for deeper self-awareness. Through interactive discussions and group activities, attendees explored and debunked common myths about self-branding. The exercises, though subtle, revealed powerful personal stories and helped uncover each individual’s authentic brand.
