Visual Notetaking Recap

AWiB members gathered once again for a creative and hands-on Growth & Learning Lighthouse session. This weekend’s focus was Visual Note-Taking—an expressive and powerful way to capture thoughts using sketches, symbols, and minimal words.
Participants worked with sketchbooks made of 10 pages, along with simple tools like clackers, stepladders, and markers. The session emphasized the value of learning through our own handwriting—how writing and drawing ideas helps us process and retain them better.
The facilitator guided the group to explore visual elements like lettering styles and abstract shapes. Members learned to show their ideas using drawings instead of only writing words. This helped them understand and remember their thoughts better.
It was a joyful, experimental space where everyone tapped into their creativity, no artistic background needed.
Key takeaways:
- Visual note-taking helps us remember better by engaging both mind and hand.
- Using symbols, shapes, and unique lettering can make ideas stick.
- Sketching is not about perfection—it’s about expression.
- Learning becomes more personal when we write and draw our own insights.
