Responsible Leadership Recap

On Saturday, June 21, AWiBers gathered for two powerful roundtable discussions on Responsible Leadership, led by Siham Ayele, Country Manager of Africa Jobs Network.

The sessions opened with warm self-introductions and a reflective question that prompted participants to share their aspirations. Before delving into the core content, Siham beautifully outlined the journey she would take the group on, clearly mapping out the themes she would explore throughout the session.

Siham shared her personal story, underscoring how her deep sense of commitment fueled her mission to educate youth about self-discovery. She emphasized the value of journaling as a tool for gaining clarity, strengthening one’s vision, and building self-confidence.

The discussion was engaging and thought-provoking, drawing in a total of 30 women—9 in the morning session and 21 in the afternoon—from diverse backgrounds. Together, they explored the power of self-reflection, the importance of identifying one’s “why,” and confronting the fears that often hinder both personal and professional growth.

At the heart of the sessions were six powerful self-assessment questions that encouraged participants to reflect on their values, purpose, and personal alignment:

  1. What kind of person do I want to be remembered as?
  2. What values did I live by?
  3. What do I fear most in life?
  4. What gives me happiness or fuels me?
  5. How do I spend my time every day, hour by hour?
  6. How have I prepared for my meeting with God?
  • Conscious Living: Responsible leadership is rooted in living consciously—aligning actions with personal values, purpose, and clarity of intention.
  • Self-Leadership First: True leadership begins with self-evaluation and personal accountability.
  • Facing Fear & Letting Go: Overcoming fear, releasing regrets, and addressing internal obstacles are essential for meaningful progress.
  • Purpose & Motivation: Leaders must prioritize goals while understanding the deeper motivations behind them.
  • Compassionate Growth: The path to responsible leadership includes self-forgiveness, learning from failure, and evolving with intention.
