Detachment Recap

On the morning of April 5, 2025, AWiBers gathered for the round table discussion (RTD) on Detachment facilitated by Nahu S. Girma, Founder & Director with Ephrathah Wodajo, Digital Marketer of AWiB.
Detachment is about fully engaging in life without being controlled by external outcomes. While you can be attached to anything, true detachment comes from the ability to let go with ease.
Attachment is emotional dependence on people, outcomes, or things for your sense of identity or security. It often stems from a deep-rooted desire for safety, control, love, or validation.
Practicing Detachment
- Awareness – Recognize what you’re attached to.
- Reflection – Understand why it matters. What is keeping you attached?
- Release & Reframe – Let go while staying engaged. Reframe the way you speak to yourself. Try writing about one of your attachments from a detached perspective.
Major Takeaways
- Focus on your actions, not the outcome.
- Let go of the need to control everything.
- Embrace change as a natural part of life.
- Observe your emotions without being ruled by them.
- Develop a personal detachment ritual to ground yourself.
