AWiB is a membership-driven association & a networking platform that focuses on cultivating leadership & entrepreneurship. AWiB provides the tools and safe space for personal and professional development. Established in 2010, AWiB targets mid-level career women and business owners and brought prominent personalities, corporate CEOs, and many women in leadership to the spotlight.
AWiB was founded in 2010 with the aim of creating a networking platform for women. It expanded into being a safe space with tools for personal & professional development. AWiB organizes over 120 activities per year facilitated by different professionals who excelled in their sectors. These activities include seminars, workshops, roundtable discussions, forums, networking programs, and more.

AWiB is an association for business women, professional women, self-employed, corporate workers, and/or stay-at-home women who want personal & professional development. A majority of AWiBers are mid-level career women, business women & entrepreneurs from different backgrounds. AWiB is a community open for all women who want to grow, expand, support each other, and lead their lives responsibly.
Women committed to their personal & professional development and longing for a supportive community to share ideas & experiences with. AWiB’s programs are the types that benefit anyone as they prompt self-reflection, finding purpose, and planning for and achieving milestones that lead to our purpose.
Women in different stages both personally & professionally can join AWiB and get continuous inspiration, support, and an opportunity to expand their network.
Members as pillars of AWiB are expected to reap the benefits of the different programs & opportunities. Members are encouraged to participate in all the monthly networking programs, pay their membership fee in a timely manner, and spread the word about AWiB, their experience, and how the programs support their growth. They are responsible to create an open & inclusive environment wherever they go & be light to others.

May Forum & WOE are two annual flagship events of AWiB that have been taking place for the past 9 years. May Forum originated to cultivate the culture of dialogue while Women of Excellence (WOE) originated to cultivate the culture of appreciation & documentation of women with vast contributions to the community. In 2023, AWiB will celebrate the 10th WOE.
First and foremost AWiB is a networking platform where many women and men reap the benefit of an expanded network. AWiB organizes over 120 programs every year with consistency and excellence. AWiB’s flagship events May forum & WOE are considered pioneers as programs cultivating the culture of dialogue, appreciation & documentation. The Female CEO Breakfast Club (FCBC) is a union of 32 highly successful businesswomen in Ethiopia, with more than 7 years of supporting each other. In addition to being part of FCBC, the members started the Senior to Junior Business seminar, a semi-annual, full-day training on which they transfer their experiences & wisdom to the next generation of business people. AWiB introduced a modern, dynamic & self-sustaining concept of local associations. It created a networking platform & safe space where women connect, emerge & grow together.
Only women can be members but AWiB offers HER membership packages to men to give as a gift to women around them. There are several programs that are open for men & non-members such as our monthly networking programs, May Forum, Women of Excellence, and a few of our weekend activities. AWiB believes in putting collective efforts towards improvement & society can only thrive when all members contribute & benefit from it.
Annual membership payments are to be paid as a single payment. Installment payments aren’t acceptable for different reasons. Long-term commitment to personal & professional development is necessary to actually improve & progress. AWiB has administration fees in addition to service fees for hotels and other venues that are to be paid at once
AWiB has a wide network spread across the business world, these people & companies may be your potential customers, partners, sponsors, mentors, allies, partners, or the missing link to the next possible height of your business. AWiB’s programs are exceptional in providing current & relevant information that supports your knowledge about your business sector and are facilitated by successful professionals who excelled in their professions. You can volunteer by supporting the AWiB staff by bringing potential members, corporate members & sponsors. Members also volunteer through facilitating our programs depending on their expertise.

Through our research, we have found that it was much preferred by our audiences to come straight from work instead of planning for it over the weekend. Hence, AWiB has deliberately made the monthly networking sessions on a weekday after regular working hours.
AWiB works to cultivate leadership, it’s all about bringing out leaders that expand globally. To become efficient global leaders we need to practice communicating using internationally known languages. English is not our identity, it is our tool for expanding & excelling in our professions.
In today’s world where people are overwhelmed with continuously flowing information & ads, it can be difficult to find your target audiences face-to-face in one place. Sponsoring AWiB’s well-known monthly networking programs offers you opportunities to promote your products & services to our well-educated & economically well-off audience. These networking programs are attended by movers and shakers of Addis including our members, Female CEO Breakfast club, non-members & men. It has been taking place continuously since our association’s establishment 13 years ago.
