Human beings are social creatures. We interact with each other spiritually, intellectually and physically. Being social is one of our basic needs, and a good romantic relationship is one of the pillars of a fulfilled life. Some assume that one needs to be lucky enough to find the right person and have a great relationship, but in reality, great relationships are the results of hard work.
Parenthood goes far beyond simply raising children. It is a lifelong commitment. It involves guiding children through the different stages of development. Parents are expected to provide appropriate support and guidance appropriate each phase of their child’s growth.
In the month of October, AWiB Presents “Creating Shared Vision”. A shared vision is the collective vision that people have regarding what the future will look like. Vision is a very clear picture you can see in your mind and feel in your heart as if it already occurred when doing so. It also needs imagination, clarity and wisdom for it to be shared by many.

On our monthly event, we focus on men who support women through their success, our “Men behind She-roes”. Behind every successful man is a strong woman, so the saying goes. In AWiB, we believe this also applies for women and our saying goes- behind every successful woman is a strong man.
Innovation for a sustainable environment is a core focus of AWiB's 2024 theme, "Resilience for Safety and Sustainability," recognizing that a sustainable environment is vital for our future survival. The recent devastating landslide in the Gamo Gofa region, which claimed the lives of around 229 individuals, underscores the urgent need for environmental concern. Gofa, located in Southern Ethiopia, has been severely impacted by heavy rains and flooding, with past incidents dating back years. In May 2016, a minimum of 50 people were killed in floods and landslides following heavy rain across the south of the country. Climate change, resulting in a warmer atmosphere, increases the likelihood of extreme rainfall, contributing to such disasters.

Planning is the process of organizing activities, identifying tasks, allocating resources and creating timelines to achieve specified goals. Planning involves logic, stimulates imagination and forecasts possible challenges and outcomes. This helps us become proactive and decisive giving us clarity on what to do next and which opportunities to grab.
“We need leaders!” is a voice that echoes in every corner, but have we ever paused to ask “Why?”. What kind of leaders do we truly need? If we strip away the noise and look at the simple definition of a leader—someone who guides a group, an organization, a nation—it doesn’t tell us where they’re taking us. Then the comprehensive question we should ask ourselves is “What outcomes are we striving for, and who are the leaders capable of leading us there?”
Have you ever thought of working smarter? If we think of skills to enhance our hard work knowing how to negotiate has a huge part to play. The commonly held belief about negotiation is that it’s a skill only a few possess. It’s true that some people naturally have the ability to negotiate successfully. Nevertheless, negotiation is also an art that can be learned and perfected over time.

AWiB Annual May Forum, held every year at UNCC and attended by up to 500 participants, is about AWiB’s capacity and contribution to the nation.
