Many are talking about the capital market but what is it and how does it operate? The capital market is a powerful financial ecosystem where individuals, businesses and governments meet investors, and dreams of building factories, highways, and dams are transformed into tangible progress.

It is a vital component of the financial system, focused on mobilizing long-term capital through the issuance and trading of equity and debt instruments such as shares and bonds. Unlike the money market, which facilitates short-term borrowing and lending, in the capital market long-term debt or equity-backed securities are bought and sold.

In Ethiopia, the capital market is at its early stage of development but we need to understand it more so that we make informed decisions about it.
