The Impact of Culture on Self Esteem

YOU CAN ALSO RSVP BY TEXTING YOUR FULL NAME AND “Esteem” TO +251947350259.

Self-esteem is our subjective evaluation of our individual worth and how we see ourselves.  A positive self-esteem enables us to navigate the ups and downs of life with our chins up and eyes looking forward.  It allows us to have a balanced opinion of our capabilities and limitations.  A negative or low self-esteem makes us devalue our abilities and limits our contributions, stagnating our potential.  It is noted that there are a number of factors that influence our self-esteem as it evolves from childhood.  Most often, our self-esteem evolves based on our experiences.  One of such factors that impacts self-esteem greatly is culture.  Culture, itself an evolving construct, greatly shapes various aspects of the self, how we view ourselves and what we strive for and aim to accomplish.

Upon completion of this RTD, you will:

Identify parts of our cultures builds &/or diminishes our self-esteems as women
Explore ways in which we can fix our distorted self-images that we developed because of cultural influences
Gain an understanding of how we are subconsciously guided by our culture when we make choices

This RTD will be facilitated by Kemer Temam, Owner & General Manager of Bersabe Industry.
