Lean In: Supporting Each Other’s Vision

There’s a preconceived notion that women don’t support each other which may be true in some cases and very far from the truth in others. Women are unique for a variety of reasons; we are sensitive, compassionate, creative and have lots of empathy. The support and connection between women are essential for many reasons, among which is that we will feel understood by one another without much difficulty. This relationship also lessens the stress of life as we have sisters to vent to and lighten the weight of the world. The biggest obvious benefit to women supporting women is sisterhood & friendship. This is fundamental to a human being’s happiness, and for a woman it can be an essential part of a balanced life.

When it comes to fulfilling our visions, it is important for women to support each other as it is the kind of support that holds unique benefits in it. Supporting another woman’s vision can start as simple as sharing your own story and if visions are aligned the support will grow to partnership. Support also means sharing opportunities, networks, encouragement; listening, celebrating successes, showing appreciation, complementing positive attributes, sharing honest opinions and more. We can start radiating these kinds of supports to women starting right at our own home, workplace and community.

Outcome

Upon completion of this round table discussion (RTD), you will:

• Reflect on the inquiries “Do women around you know about your visions?” & “How do they support your visions?”
• Learn different ways how us women can support each other in fulfilling our visions
• Understand the significance of your contribution to the women around you when it comes to expressing and fulfilling their visions
