Digital Health

Digital health is no longer limited to hospitals or medical professionals, it touches everyday life through the ways we access information, manage well-being, and make decisions about our health. From mobile apps and online consultations to health data and digital tools, technology is shaping how individuals, families, and communities experience care. Understanding digital health means recognizing its role in improving access, awareness, and empowerment for everyone, not just those working in healthcare.

For digital health to create real impact, it must be designed with people and context in mind. Solutions that work elsewhere may not automatically fit local realities, lifestyles, or resources. By grounding digital health innovations in research, lived experiences, and community needs, we can create inclusive, practical solutions that support everyday well-being, strengthen systems, and respond to the challenges people face today.

Semayawit Bahiru is a pharmacist, lecturer at Addis Ababa University’s (AAU) School of Pharmacy, and Business Development Manager, known for her impactful leadership and commitment to purposeful progress. As Founder of SemiLink, Semayawit spearheads digitizing Ethiopia’s pharmaceutical industry, leveraging data-driven solutions for efficiency and accessibility. She currently serves as the Director of the AAU Endowment Fund, guiding initiatives that secure vital resources and strengthen the university’s foundation for future generations.
