Self-Doubt
Do you find yourself frequently questioning your own abilities and second-guessing your decisions, actions and words? “I am not good enough…” “What if it doesn’t work out?” “What if I’m wrong?” “I can’t do it …”. We all do once in a while but having these thoughts frequently is a sign of self-doubt.
Self-doubt is defined as a feeling of uncertainty, insecurity and fear regarding one’s own abilities, decisions and actions. This feeling can arise in response to situations such as setbacks, rejection, criticism, or a lack of support in childhood or adulthood. Self-doubt is an automatic and ingrained behavior that paralyzes us from moving towards our dreams.
As women, many of us are prone to self-doubt and it is important for us to understand its source and triggers. Once we do that, we can develop strategies with self-compassion and self-acceptance that challenge the negative beliefs rooted in our subconscious. Through shaking off our self-doubt and breaking the cycle of negative self-talks, we unlock our true potential and embrace a positive and resilient mindset.
