Principles of Painting & Acrylic Painting on Canvas Recap

AWiB’s recent painting workshop, led by AWiB Staff Hana Melese, began in a warm, inviting studio atmosphere, buzzing with eager anticipation as participants were ready to explore their creativity. The session was designed to be a sanctuary for self-expression, offering a relaxing escape into the world of visual art.
The workshop expertly balanced foundational art theory with hands-on practice. Hana introduced the 8 principles like composition, color theory, and balance. She provided a clear, structured framework for our creative exploration. This foundation came alive as we delved into color mixing and brush techniques, transforming blank palettes and canvases into fields of possibility.
The heart of the workshop was a deeply personal and immersive experience. We applied new skills to create our own acrylic paintings on canvas. Hana’s support and encouragement guided us through. The session became both meditative and social. Each person communicated inner thoughts through unique colors, forms, and textures. The room’s focused energy was palpable. Curiosity and creativity flowed freely.
The workshop concluded with a shared sense of quiet accomplishment and satisfaction. As we viewed our finished canvases, the ultimate lesson was solidified: that combining fundamental techniques with personal emotion is the key to unlocking artistic potential and achieving a profound sense of creative relief. Participants left not only with their own unique artwork but with a deeper understanding of how art fosters mental well-being and a deeper connection to oneself
