The Leader in Me
For me, leadership was an imposition never a choice! As the firstborn child with a large age gap between my siblings, I quickly took on motherly responsibilities at a very early age. Organizing, guiding, and caring for others was the daily reality of my youth. This early exercise in domestic governance was, unknowingly, my first formal leadership training.
That powerful instinct to lead followed me through every phase of my education. I consistently found myself elected or appointed to roles of responsibility, serving as a class representative in elementary school, high school, and even during the demanding years of my medical school. These experiences confirmed an internal truth: the ability and the desire to guide was deeply rooted within me.
Yet, despite this clear internal compass, a professional insecurity lingered. I searched relentlessly for workshops and formalized training during my career, convinced I needed an external authority to grant me permission to lead. My search for the “right” training always came up short, ironically highlighting the very thing I couldn’t see: the essential quality I needed was already present. It was then that I encountered the Haset Women’s Leadership Training program and its motto “Igniting Authentic Leadership”. That touched me to the core – leadership is about bringing out what’s already in you. It was the affirmation I desperately needed. This philosophy became the gentle hammer that is slowly shattering my imposter syndrome, replacing self-doubt with grounded confidence over the course of the year, especially having to work with other like-minded women.
Haset didn’t just teach me concepts; it gave me the scientific tools to dissect and understand myself along with my leadership profile. Through the self-analysis tools and activities, I have learned and will continuously learn where my strengths and weaknesses lie. This understanding allowed me to move from simply reacting to situations to leading with intention. This self-knowledge and aligning myself with my values, is the foundation of true Authentic Leadership: leading with integrity, transparency, and consistency.
This self-mastery is the engine to my commitment in my leadership learning journey. Leadership is about fostering an environment where every individual experiences significant personal growth in pursuit of shared vision, as a result I became a strong team leader.
As a young woman who has navigated the challenges of finding support in leadership spaces, I feel a huge responsibility to extend this knowledge to create a Chain Reaction, through mentorship, uplifting, and empowering other women. My journey of learning and growth continues, but now, I lead with absolute conviction in the leader I was always meant to be, thanks to Haset.
