AWiB Presents Her Gems: Valuable, Useful, And Beautiful

July is our time to showcase our AWiBers– the Bold and the Beautiful! Where failure is not an option. We present to you three magnificent women to let us in on their secret.

Roman Tafessework, Director of New Products Development at Kuriftu Resort & Spa

Roman Tafessework, a hotelier, a marketeer and a devout social activist, does always believe that thinking positive in any circumstance is the key for a successful personal development path. Assuming an executive leadership role at the age of 22 and pushing herself up the corporate ladder, Roman has proved wrong the belief that only those matured are prudent.

As a young woman born, raised and lived her entire life in Ethiopia, she constantly mentors young girls to believe cultural and situational barriers cannot be a woman’s excuse from being vulnerable and courageous as long as transformation is in her life agenda.

Roman, an ex-board and proud “AWiBer” for over 5 years, puts humanity above all and participates in several social movements, mostly in relation to women and children.

Asefach Haileselassie Reda is the founder and General Manager of BEZNA Counseling & Training Center PLC in Ethiopia. She started her career as a counselor in high schools that exposed her to the experience of educational and behavioral challenges faced by students.

She has a passion for the empowerment of women and of young people in difficult circumstances that allowed her to translate her knowledge of psychology by developing psychosocial projects that focused on rehabilitation and self-development.

Asefach is member of Soropitimist International Club Ethiopia, a global voice for women. She also served as the President of the club.

Tihitina Legesse is the General Manager of WARYT Mulutila International plc, a successful furniture supplier involved in the importation and manufacturing of furniture and water purifier.  Tihitina has been working in this family owned business for over 15 years–the last six years as GM of the company.  She says “my father always tells me positions have no gender.  It is the free will of the individual as well as a true coach that will make a difference in all.”

Tihitina, one who is always up to challenges, never shies away from competition or trying new venture even when she understands how tough and slim the chance of getting in or having what she wants may be.   Even at work, she likes to try something others have given up as she likes the challenge and thinking without the box instead of outside the box.

Tihitina is intelligent, an astute observer and one with positive outlook on life. She is a successful female leader of our community and one who shares her secret with those who wish to listen.

All these three Gems have plenty of lessons and laughter to share with us.

  • Who are they? What do they do in life and how do they do it?
  • What are they passionate about?
  • What are the success factors in their individual lives?
  • What challenges have they experienced and how did they overcome them?
  • Which personal triumphs do they celebrate?
  • How do they contribute to their communities?
  • What’s their vision for the future?
  • What do they want to be remembered for? Their legacy? What do they want written on their tombstone?
